Story

I did it!!!!!! 26.2 miles, only around 17 miles in pain! I had to stop a number of times for a bit of physio but I was determined to finish. It was a little depressing seeing the pace setters go by... First the 4hr15, then the 4.30, the 4.45, and by time the 5hr went by I knew I would just be lucky to finish. At 9 miles the steward suggested I stopped, but I knew I had to keep going.

The support around the route was incredible, and hearing my name shouted out by excited strangers gave me a good boost, then spotting friends and family within the ccrowd gasve me an amazing boost!

I want to thank EVERYONE for their support and am so so greatful for all of the warm messages I've received. Xxxxxxxxx

This March I celebrated my FIVE year anniversary of when I gave up alcohol. Although a lot of people that I know now didn't know me back then, I have gone through so many changes and have been fortunate enough to flip my life around...

Since giving up alcohol I have achieved so much and experienced so much more than I could have imagined at the time. Running the London Marathon to me is like the ultimate achievement at the end of a significant milestone.

I am running it for me... for the new me and for the old (16 stone) me. I am running it for my dad who cannot walk, let alone run. I am running it for the family that have been there for me. I am especially running it for all of the friends that have supported me and been there for me whether they know it or not. I am running it for all of the people that have sponsored me. I am running it for the Samaritans and their callers because tnot everybody has as good a support network as I do.

Having started running in the summer of 2012, I have managed to complete two 10k races, a 10 miler, two half marathons and one full marathon...

Although this will officially be my second full marathon, I feel it will be a massive achievement as a "runner" as it is known as the biggest event in the running calander, and famously difficult to get into!

Please support me and the Samaritans to inspire me to keep training over the chilly winter months... and if i hit my target, i PROMISE i will run in some form of fancy dress :)
